Misdemeanor Charges

We proudly represent clients across Texas on a wide variety of misdemeanor matters, including original proceedings, revocations, probation modifications, expunctions and non-disclosures.  Examples of misdemeanor matters are:

  • Driving While Intoxicated, 1st or 2nd Offense
  • Possession of Marijuana, Under Four Ounces
  • Unlawful Possession of Certain Prescription Medications
  • Theft & Theft by Check ("Hot" Checks)
  • Evading or Resisting Arrest
  • Assault & Family Violence Assault
  • Cruelty to Animals
  • Disorderly Conduct
  • Failure to Identify
  • Leaving the Scene of An Accident

Jailable misdemeanors generally fall into one of two categories -- Class "B" misdemeanors, which carry a sentencing range of 0-180 days in the county jail and a fine of up to $2,000.00, and Class "A" misdemeanors, which carry a sentencing range of up to one (1) year in the county jail and a fine of up to $4,000.00.

Our strategy is simple -- we will first evaluate the case after obtaining all written documentation, offense reports, witness statements, videos, audio recordings, photographs, and other materials to see if an outright dismissal of the case is possible.  If dismissal is not likely, we begin assembling the best possible defense(s) to the case and secure the best options available for our client -- including reduction of the charges, suppression of unlawfully obtained evidence, deferred adjudication offers (successful completion of deferred adjudication means no criminal record and no 'guilty' finding by a Court), 'straight' probation offers, or minimal jail time offers.  From there, our clients can choose from accepting the best negotiated offer or pursue a full trial to Judge or jury.

Our office has handled hundreds of these matters and stands ready, willing and able to assist you or your loved one.  Please contact us today to schedule a free in-office or telephone consultation, so you can get the help you need.
